McIntyre Heading to Paralympics

14 May 2008

2008 Pacific School Games Ambassador and ACT Paralympic athlete Deahnne McIntyre has been named in the Australian Powerlifting team in Beijing. Despite struggling with a shoulder injury, McIntyre did enough to impress selectors and gain a spot on the team alongside Perth athlete Darren Gardner and Brisbane ‘s Abebe Fekadu.

McIntyre’s selection gives her the chance to add to her impressive Paralympic medal tally of one Gold, one Bronze and two Silvers which she won in athletics in Seoul 1988. She is also a former Young Australian of the Year. Beijing will be McIntyre’s fourth Paralympics.
