2 September 2008

It is official. ‘Play the Game’, a song written and sung by ACT student Subashini Gnanendran will be the official theme song for the 2008 Pacific School Games after the Year 10 student from Telopea Park School clinched the top prize this morning at the 2008 Pacific School Games (PSG) Song competition.

In front of a packed Lyneham High School assembly which included guest of honour, Mary Porter MLA, finalists Subashini Gnanendran (Telopea Park), Jarrod Synnott                ( Alfred Deakin High School) and Jasper Bell ( Alfred Deakin High School) performed their original compositions to the delight of the young fans and a panel of distinguished judges.

Jo Campbell, Sports manager of the 2008 PSG and a member of the judges’ panel said, “The quality of finalists in this Song competition has once again provided a wonderful example of the abundance of talent within the ACT School Education system. It was an extremely close competition and a hard one to judge simply because of the different styles of music and the wealth of talent on display.”

Play the Game will be performed at the official Opening Ceremony of the 2008 PSG with the other two finalists also having an opportunity to perform at other upcoming 2008 PSG events.
