Volunteer Liaison Officers Information

TEAM LIAISON OFFICER — Position Description

Give direct support to allocated visiting team by:

  • Establishing a supportive relationship with allocated team throughout the 2008 PSG; and
  • Attending information meetings throughout the year.

Summary of Duties

  • Meet and greet at airport/or designated meeting area.
  • Problem solving issues for teams.
  • Liaison between the team and PSG management through the Senior Team Liaison Officer.
  • Valuable assistance.
  • Attendance at Opening and Closing Ceremonies and official functions during the 2008 PSG.

We seek the following skills

  • Demonstrated initiative and leadership skills.
  • An understanding of school sport and /or junior sport.
  • Previous team management experience.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • A current driver’s licence and independent transport.

Desirable skills

Please indicate in your application if you have any of the following skills:

  • A language other than English that would be useful to support one or more of the non English speaking teams.
  • A Medium Rigid (MR) or Heavy Vehicle drivers licence.
  • First aid qualification.

 

VENUE LIAISON OFFICER — Position Description

Venue Liaison Officers will be stationed at each venue.

Summary of Duties

  • Represent the 2008 PSG at the sport venue.
  • Be fully familiar with all aspects of the conduct of the competitions.
  • Take appropriate actions to remedy problems which may occur on a daily basis.
  • Be the 2008 PSG representative at the venue with the Senior Venue Liaison Officer.
  • Be responsible for daily “sign in” at the venue for all Event Officials.
  • Assign luncheon vouchers daily to eligible Event officials.
  • Be responsible for issue and collection of incident reports.
  • Take appropriate action re any incident reports submitted.
  • Work with the official responsible for medal presentations.
  • Assist in the training of Event Officials.

EDUCATION LIAISON OFFICER — Position Description

Education Liaison Officers will be stationed at Education Program venues (eg. AIS, Questacon) and will be responsible for assisting in the coordination of the 2008 PSG Education Program.

Summary of Duties

  • Greeting and directing seminar/workshop instructors to the appropriate area.
  • Greeting and directing teams to the appropriate area.
  • Liaising between the Senior Education Liaison Officer, program instructors, venue management and team management.
  • Management of Event Officials assigned to the venue.
  • General supervision and problem solving.
  • Be responsible for issue and collection of incident reports.
  • Take appropriate action re any incident reports submitted.

OPERATIONS LIAISON OFFICER — Position Description

Summary of Duties

Liaise with Senior Operations Officer and the Operations Manager in all aspects of operations of the 2008 PSG (eg. transport, security and incident management) at:

  • sport venues;
  • Registration and Accreditation Centre;
  • ceremonies venues and functions;
  • accommodation venues;
  • educational activity venues; and
  • arrival and departure points for all PSG teams.

  • Previous team management experience.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • A current driver’s licence and independent transport.
