2008 PSG Governance
The ACT School Sports Council Incorporated (the Council) organises and manages the 2008 Pacific School Games, with financial support from the ACT Government through the ACT Department of Education and Training (DET).
The Council is a representative body with members from School Sport ACT, the ACT Primary and Secondary Schools Sports Associations, DET, the Catholic Education Office and the Association of Independent Schools. Other bodies represented are the parent associations for each of these three education sectors; the ACT Branch of the Australian Education Union; the Independent Education Union; and Sport and Recreation Services, the ACT government sport agency.
2008 PSG Steering Committee
The Council established the 2008 PSG Steering Committee comprising members of the Council plus two representatives of School Sport Australia. Chair of the Steering Committee is Council Chair, Annette Harasymiv.
A sub-committee structure supports the 2008 PSG Management:
1. Finance Committee
Membership consists of Steering Committee members from the Council, an ACT DET representative and the General Manager and Finance Manager of the 2008 PSG.
2. Sport Committee
Membership consists of representatives of the ACT School Sports community, ACT community sporting organisations for each of the four 2008 PSG sports, the 2008 PSG General Manager and Sport Manager. The Committee will address issues that concern more than one sport and ensure that the 2008 PSG is an integrated multi-sport event.
3. Sport Working Parties
Five Sport Working Parties will undertake specialised functions required to organise and conduct the competitions in their respective sport. The structure of the Working Parties reflects the structure of the Sports Committee with a combination of school and community based expertise in each sport.
Other sub-committees will be established as required.
