Involving ACT Schools

Students from all school sectors including the Universities and the Vocation Education and Training Sectors will have numerous opportunities to be involved with the 2008 PSG not only as competitors and officials, but also in other areas of the curriculum including dance, drama, music, sports administration, media and event management.

Other ways in which ACT schools can become involved:

  • The 2008 PSG Schools newsletter Get Ready!
It contains information and updates on the 2008 Pacific School Games including exciting work puzzles and other competitions for all ACT school children to participate in.  Read more

  • Have a 2008 PSG Ambassador attend a school assembly.  We currently have 11 outstanding athletes on board as Ambassadors, who were chosen for their exemplary sporting achievements and their connection to Canberra.
  • Train to become an accredited official - teachers, and students aged over 16, can become accredited officials in Basketball, Track & Field, and Swimming.  The 2008 Pacific School Games, in association with these sporting bodies, is offering training to fulfil these roles.
  • Perform in the Opening Ceremony - Already, close to 30 schools in the ACT have already indicated a strong interest in being part of the 2008 PSG Opening Ceremony magic. The 2008 PSG expects around 1,000 ACT school students to perform in this spectacular presentation of song, music, drama and dance attracting up to 15,000 spectators.

Schools which are interested in being part of the excitement of the 2008 PSG should contact General Manager, Ron Burns at the PSG office for further information.
