Lake Ginninderra College maps out 2008 PSG Venues

Students from the Computer Aided Design & Drawing (CADD) class at Lake Ginninderra Senior Secondary College have been hard at work designing maps for sporting and ceremonies venues for the 2008 Pacific School Games (PSG).

The college is located close to the AIS Precinct which is the focal point for the 2008 PSG and when approached by PSG Management to assist with the project, jumped at the opportunity to provide their support and expertise.

Amanda Kabaila, CADD teacher at the college said, “The students were very enthusiastic about participating in the project, especially as their designs were included in their formal assessment for the semester.  They look forward to seeing their work displayed in PSG publications and at the various venues during the Games in December this year.”

A total of six sporting, two ceremonies and AIS Precinct venue maps were designed.  The students involved were as follows:

  • Karl Silvano & Nathan Smale (AIS Precinct)
  • Lauren Calvert (Canberra Stadium – Opening Ceremony)
  • Richard James (AIS Basketball Centre)
  • Luiz Rocha (AIS Track & Field Facility)
  • Adam Mills ( AIS Swimming Centre)
  • Ray Mercado & Brendan Archer (Belconnen Basketball Stadium)
  • Johno Damoulakis & Sam Morrow (National Hockey Centre)
  • Brandon Parker & John Noonan ( Canberra Olympic Pool)
