PSG Technical Official Training Program takes off in Schools
12 June 2008
St Edmund’s College became the first school in the ACT to participate in the 2008 Pacific School Games (PSG) Basketball Technical Officials Training Program. Specially designed to train and accredit students in the ACT, this program aims to equip students with the technical skills and knowledge to be involved in officiating sports such as Basketball, Track and Field and Swimming.
Jo Campbell, Sport Manager with the 2008 PSG reiterated the importance of this training program and the lasting legacy this will leave not only the sports, but also, the schools and the students after the 2008 PSG.
“The Technical Official Training Program will not only give students an opportunity to learn new skills or update their current knowledge in their chosen sport, but more importantly, it will give these students a chance to receive formal accreditation with the sport and as such, provide these students the ability to continue to be involved with officiating long after the PSG.”
