Matthew Harrison of Yarralumla Primary became the proud owner of an exclusive 2008 Pacific School Games (PSG) Prize pack when he was presented with his prize for his winning entry in the Guess the Flag Competition in Issue 2 of the 2008 PSG newsletter, Get Ready!
2008 PSG General Manager, Ron Burns, made a special visit to Yarralumla Primary last Friday to speak to the students about the much anticipated games.
The 2008 PSG is expected to be the biggest PSG ever held to date and is expected to attract over 5000 competitors competing in 5 sports. For the very first time, Canberra has been accorded the privilege of hosting this flagship School Sport Australia event.
2008 PSG Communications Manager, Rei Seah, indicated that the 2008 PSG management team is looking forward to hosting the games in November. She believes that the 2008 PSG gives Canberra a great opportunity to showcase not only its sporting talents, but also its world class sporting venues such as the Australian Institute of Sport and the National Hockey Centre.
To date, all Australian States and Territories and 30 international countries have expressed an interest in participating in the 2008 PSG. The 2008 PSG will kick start its weeklong competitions with the official 2008 PSG Opening Ceremony on Sunday, 30 November at the Canberra Stadium.
