Competition Program
Please note wheelchair 14 years and under composite and girls Intellectual Disability (ID) 18 years and under will no longer be offered as part of the 2008 PSG Basketball Program.
The 2008 PSG Basketball program will provide opportunities for competition for players in the following age groups:
- girls 12 years and under
- boys 12 years and under
- girls 18 years and under
- boys 18 years and under
- boys Intellectual Disability (ID) 18 years and under
- wheelchair 18 years and under composite (mixed gender teams)
The competition structure will maximise playing opportunities for all teams with the number of entries determining the nature of the draw in each of the age groups.
Competition Format
18 Boys & Under — System of Competition
Preliminary Rounds
The 10 participating teams are divided into two groups (A, and B) of five teams each. Each team will play all the other teams in its own group.
Pool A – ACT, China, NSW, Singapore, WA
Pool B – Macau, NT, QLD, TAS VIC
The teams placed 1st and 2nd in each group will play in the Semi-Finals; the teams placed 3rd to 5th in each group will play in classification games.
Semi-Finals
Semi Final 1: A1 vs. B2
Semi Final 2: B1 vs. A2
The two winners will qualify for Gold/Silver Medal Game. The two losers will play in the Bronze Medal Game.
Classifications
The teams placed 3rd, 4th and 5th in each pool will play off as follows.
Game 1: A3 v B4
Game 2: A4 v B3
Game 3: A5 v B5
Game 4: Winner Game 1 v Winner Game 2 – 5th and 6th Playoff
Game 5: Loser Game 1 v Winner Game 3 – 7th and 8th Playoff
Game 6: Loser Game 2 v Loser Game 3 – 9th and 10th Playoff
18 Girls & Under, 12 Boys & Under, 12 Girls & Under — System of Competition
Preliminary Rounds
The 9 participating teams are divided into two groups (A, and B) of four teams in one and 5 teams in the other. Each team will play all the other teams in its own group.18 Girls and Under Pools

Pool B – ACT, NT, QLD, SAThe teams placed 1st and 2nd in each group will playoff for positions 1 to 4. The remaining teams will playoff in classification games.

The two participated with play each other each 4 times with the Gold and Silver Medals being awarded based on overall results between the teams.

Composite Teams
Following completion of the 18 Wheelchair Competition, 3 composite teams will be selected and will play each twice in an exhibition series.Athletes With a Disability — System of Competition
The 3 participating teams will play each other 3 times with a Gold Medal Game between the top 2 placed teams with the Bronze going to the 3rd placed team.
