Rules of Competition

The competition will be conducted under FINA rules except where otherwise stated.

1.  Entry Requirements

All competitors must be bona fide school students, with a minimum age of 10 years and a maximum age of 19 years in the year of competition.

 

Age Groups

10 years – born 1998

11 years – born 1997

12 years – born 1996

13 years – born 1995

14 years – born 1994

15 years – born 1993

16 years – born 1992

17 - 19 years – born 1989, 1990 & 1991

Each country/state/territory may enter a maximum of three (3) competitors per individual competition.

2.  Event Requirements

2.1 Springboard
and Platform
 
 

2.1.1

No repeat dives are permitted in any event or age group.
 

2.1.2

Students must compete in their age group in individual and platform events.

 

2.1.3

Boys and girls competitions will be conducted in each of the age groups.
     
2.2 Synchronised Diving  
 

2.2.1

Pairs to come from existing team members in individual events.
 

2.2.2

There is no limit to the number of pairs per team in any synchronised event.
 

2.2.3

Synchronised events are optional for divers.
 

2.2.4

Pairs may compete in one event only.  In the event there is a diver with no partner, he/she may compete with a diver who has an existing partner in a different event.
 

2.2.5

Pairs may comprise divers of different age groups but must compete in the age grouping of the eldest diver.
 

2.2.6

Boy/Girl pairs must compete in the corresponding event of the eldest diver.  If they are both in the same age group then they must compete in the boys' event.
 

2.2.7

Pairs may be from different teams.
 
2.2.8
All 1m dives in each event will be completed before any rounds of the 3m dives begin.

Platform 5m and 10m. There is not a 7.5m platform at the 2008 PSG Games Diving venue.  Length of 5m platform is 4.2m.  Run up access may be restricted.

Note: There will be no synchronised platform events on the 2008 PSG Diving program.

All 1m dives in each synchronised event will be completed before the 3m dives.

3.  Final Confirmation of Entries

Confirmation of entries is the responsibility of team management and must be tabled at the technical meeting prior to the commencement of competition.

4. Withdrawals and Substitutions

4.1

Withdrawals may be made by team management completing a withdrawal form and handing it to the Chief Referee and event administration prior to start of the event.

4.2

Substitutions by a diver meeting the age and dive requirements for the event, may be made for a withdrawal by team management completing a substitution form and dive list and handing to the Chief Referee and event administration at least 1 hour prior to scheduled start time of the event or as soon as the withdrawal has been necessitated.

4.3

The Chief Referee shall determine whether the substitution is accepted prior to the start of competition.

4.4

The order of divers will remain the same with the substitute diver replacing the diver that has withdrawn.

5. Protests and Jury of Appeal

5.1       Protests

5.1.1

Protests by team management on behalf of a diver must be handed to the Chief Referee within 30 minutes of the conclusion of the event.

5.1.2

Protests must be submitted in writing on the official Protest Form accompanied by a deposit of 100 Australian dollars.

If the protest is rejected, the deposit will be forfeited to the

management body of the competition. If the protest is upheld, the deposit will be returned.

 

5.2       Jury of Appeal

 

5.2.1

The Jury will be the Competition Director,  a Team Manager (of team not involved in protest) and the Chief Referee.

5.2.2

The decision of the Jury shall be conveyed to team management once this process is completed.

6.  Competition Requirements

6.1       Marshalling

6.1.1

Divers competing in the first event of each day must marshal no later than 30 minutes prior to the start of their event. In all other events divers must marshal during the final round of the previous event.

6.1.2

Divers accreditation must be handed to a marshal on pool deck prior to their event and collected at the conclusion of their event.

6.1.3

Divers are not permitted to leave the marshalling area prior to the commencement of their event.

 

6.2       Dive Sheets

6.2.1

A dive sheet will be available on the official website prior to the event.

6.2.2

Each diver must submit and sign a complete statement of dives on the official form 24 hours (or by the advertised time) prior to the start time for the day on which they compete. Unsigned dive sheets will not be accepted.

6.2.3

Dive sheets must be placed in the designated ‘dive box’ .

6.2.4

Each diver is solely responsible for the accuracy of his or her statement of dives.

 

6.3       Competition Order and Status

6.3.1

Order of competition shall be determined by random draw.

6.3.2

Each competition shall be a final competition irrespective of the number of entrants.

 

6.4       Judging Panels

 

6.4.1

A judging panel of five (5) members will be appointed for each individual event and seven (7) judges for the synchronised events.

6.4.2

Team managers and team coaches that are accompanying participating teams and are appropriately accredited as judges, may be invited to officiate if required. This will be done at the discretion of the Chief Referee.

6.4.3

A dive indicator board will be used.

 

6.5       Warm Up and Training

 

6.5.1

Only accredited divers, coaches and technical officials directly involved in an event will be permitted on pool deck.

6.5.2

Team managers may access the event management office between events or during training sessions.

6.5.3

Divers are not permitted on pool deck or boards or platforms at any time without the direct supervision of their team coach.

6.5.4

Duty of care is of the utmost importance.

6.5.5

Divers must hand their accreditation to their coach responsible for them at the start of their training session.

6.5.6

A 10 (ten) minute warm up will be allowed preceding each event.

6.5.7

Morning training sessions are available for those divers competing in that day’s competition.

6.5.8

Only divers competing in that day’s competition may warm up between events on any particular day.

6.5.9

Training will be available at the conclusion of the day’s events.

6.6       Results

 

6.6.1

All results will be published and displayed on a designated diving notice board as soon as available.

6.6.2

Results will be distributed to team management and will be available via the PSG website.

6.6.3

A complete set of results shall be available for collection by team management at the conclusion of the event.

All dive sheets must be lodged 24 hours (or by the advertised time) prior to the start of the day’s competition.

Daily Competition Procedure

  • Divers register in marshalling area.
  • Warm-up for divers in current session only.
  • 1st event divers introduced.
  • 1st event warm-up.
  • Boards close.
  • Officials introduced.
  • 1st event commences
  • 2nd event divers marshal for warm-up (when announced)
  • 1st event concludes.
  • 2nd event divers introduced.
  • 2nd event warm-up.
  • Boards close.
  • 1st event medal presentations.
  • Officials introduced.
  • 2nd event commences.
  • 3rd event divers marshal for warm-up. (when announced)
  • 2nd event concludes.
  • 3rd event divers introduced.
  • 3rd event warm-up.
  • Boards close.
  • 2nd event medal presentations.

 

Note:  This procedure will continue for subsequent events until the end of the session.

Medal Presentations

  • Medal presentation ceremonies will be held at the conclusion of each event.
  • All medallists must be dressed in their Team Uniform for the Presentation Ceremony.  This includes appropriate sports footwear.  Bare feet are not acceptable and swimming costumes are NOT to be worn for Presentations.  hats in any form are NOT to be worn during Presentation Ceremonies.
  • All medal winners must be in the marshalling area at the conclusion of their event and the announcement of placings.
  • It is the responsibility of Team Management to ensure medallists are dressed correctly, are punctual and ready for the presentation.
  • Once in the assembly area, all medal winners are under the control of the Ceremonies Co-ordinator until official photographs have been taken at the conclusion of their medal presentation.
  • Athletes must wait until their name is announced before stepping onto the Presentation Dais.
  • The Official Photographer will take photos of medallists.
  • Medallists will be escorted from the presentation area.

Equipment

Diving Boards

Springboards:

  • 2 x 1 metre
  • 2 x 3 metre 

Platform:

  • 1 x 5m (may not be used for synchronised diving)
  • 1 x 10m (may not be used for synchronised diving)

Note: there will be no dry board or trampoline facilities available.

  • A mat area, located behind the spectator stands on the eastern side of the pool, is available for warm-up and stretching but requires supervision at all times.

Storage of personal equipment/belongings

  • Tubs will be available in the marshalling room for a limited amount of personal equipment/belongings.
  • Valuable items are not to be brought into the marshalling area.
  • No bags or equipment are allowed on pool deck at any time for safety reasons.
  • All items brought to pool deck are at the divers’ own risk and no responsibility will be taken for any items left either on pool deck or in the marshalling area.

 

Confirmation of Teams

All teams are deemed to be confirmed

Withdrawal without Substitution

  • All withdrawals from competition without substitution to be made to the Chief Referee on a Withdrawal Form as soon as known.
  • All withdrawals from an event must be signed by the diver and Team Manager where possible.

Withdrawal with Substitution

  • All applications for substitutions to be made to the Chief Referee on the Withdrawals and Substitutions Form.
  • Application must be submitted a minimum of 1 hour prior to the start time of the relevant event or as soon as substitution is necessary.
  • All applications for substitution must be accompanied by the dive list for the

substituted diver.

  • Substitutions are at the discretion of the Chief Referee and/or Competition Director.

Protests

  • A protest by Team Management on behalf of a diver must be made in writing and handed to the Chief Referee within 30 minutes of the conclusion of the event.
  • Protest forms must be accompanied by a deposit of $100 AUD.
  • If the protest is rejected, the deposit will be forfeited to the PSG Organising Committee.
  • If the protest is upheld, the deposit will be returned.
  • Results of an event may be delayed while a protest is adjudicate.
