Competition Venue

The 2008 Pacific School Games Hockey competition will be played at the National Hockey Centre (NHC) in Lyneham, an inner suburb close to the city centre.

The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS), the venue for the 2008 PSG Swimming, Track & Field and Basketball, is situated approximately a five minute drive or a 20 minute walk from the NHC. The Diving venue is situated in the city centre precinct a 10 minute drive from the NHC.

 

The NHC is a world class facility consisting of three enclosed fields - the ‘Carter’ Field, the ‘Powell’ Field and the ‘Watt’ Field. The Carter and the Powell Fields have a Poligras 2000 LSR water-based synthetic surface and the Watt Field has a Poligras H20Z water-based synthetic surface.

 

The 2008 Men's Australian Hockey League Tournament was played at the NHC in Canberra.  During 2005 the International Women's Champions Trophy Tournament was also played at the NHC. The Watt Field has the same surface used in the 2000 Sydney Olympics Hockey competition.
