2008 PSG Team Registration Details

2008 Pacific School Games Registration Now Open

Access to the registration site will be via user name and password which the 2008 PSG will provide to team management from each State, Territory or Country. This will ensure that only the team's management and PSG will have access to each team's information.

Please contact Jane McCarty at the 2008 PSG office (jane.mccarty@ed.act.edu.au ) to receive your State/Territory/Country user name and password.

Team officials are advised that a recent passport sized photo will be required for all adults officially accompanying each team (coaches, managers, etc) for their 2008 PSG accreditation passes. Photos should be submitted electronically when registering via this online process.

Teams are encouraged to enter before the closing date of 16 October 2008 once the competitors have been selected. Early entry is encouraged to avoid electronic backlog caused by too many people trying to access the website at the same time.

Teams that enter early will be able to access their information online to make changes up until 16 October 2008. Changes caused by injury, illness, etc will be able to be made following the official close up to the start of the 2008 PSG directly through the PSG office.

Team Registration

Australian competitors will attend the 2008 Pacific School Games as representatives of their State/Territory so there will be an ACT team, NSW team, VIC team, etc.   International competitors will attend as part of officially endorsed teams from their country.

The selection process for the 2008 PSG will be handled by your State/Territory School Sports Association or the relevant organisation in countries other than Australia.

In Tasmania the five state sports associations (Athletics, Basketball, Diving, Hockey and Swimming) will be responsible for the team selection process and should be contacted regarding any issues concerning team selection or management.

In 2008, the All Schools Championships will be incorporated into the Pacific School Games with competitors attending as part of their State/Territory team. Track & Field teams are being organised jointly by the State School Sports Associations and the Athletics Australia member bodies in each State.

Please note, individual entries will not be accepted for the 2008 PSG.  All competitors must attend as a member of their State/Territory/Country team.

The registration process for competitors and team officials will be via electronic entry through the 2008 PSG website.

The registration site opened on 21 July 2008 and will be removed from the website at midnight on 16 October 2008.

Accreditation will not be provided to parents or other spectators travelling with the team who have no official team status.

All registered competitors and team officials will have to collect their accreditation tags at the 2008 PSG Registration and Accreditation Centre at the indoor arena of the National Hockey Centre from 28 November 2008.

Competitor Levy

Each competitor in the 2008 PSG will be required to pay a competitor levy of AUS$150 excluding GST.  Australian State and Territory competitors will need to pay AUS$165 to cover GST. Under a ruling from the Australian Taxation Office, international competitors are exempt from GST on this levy.

The competitor levy must be paid before the Opening Ceremony and the commencement of competition on 30 November 2008.  Teams who have not paid the competitor levy for all competitors will not be permitted to participate in the 2008 PSG ceremonies and sporting competitions until the fee is paid.

Following the close of entries, all teams will be invoiced for the full amount of competitor levies for the number of competitors they have entered for the 2008 PSG.

These will be payable before 30 November 2008 via bank cheque or EFT. Details of payment procedures will be provided directly to the organisation responsible for management of participating teams.
