2008 Pacific School Games Trademark Usage Policy
Background
This policy addresses the desire of the 2008 Pacific School Games (PSG) Management to permit stakeholders to promote their association with the event along with the need of the 2008 PSG to ensure that the trademarks remain reliable indicators of the prestige and unique nature of the event.
Underlying the policy is the general law of trademarks:
Under Class 41 of the Australian Government (IP Australia) Trade Marks Act 1995 (Trade Mark Office), the following 2008 Pacific School Games logos are trademarked:
-
2008 Pacific School Games logo (with date)
-
2008 Pacific School Games sporting icons
These two trademarked items are important elements in the 2008 PSG brand.
Why the 2008 PSG brand is important
- It enables all stakeholders to immediately recognise all 2008 PSG-related activities and promotional material.
- it protects the sales of the 2008 PSG merchandising material - the proceeds of which go towards the organisation of the 2008 PSG in Canberra and hopefully also leave a legacy for the ACT Schools Sports Council.
- it provides a clear identity of the 2008 PSG.
